Kumano Kodo

The Kumano Kodo is a series of ancient pilgrimage routes on the Kii Peninsula southeast of Nagoya. Our hotel looked out over beautiful Katsuura Bay. We walked on the KK trails, over hills through thick forests to hidden shrines. And because the town of Nachi-Katsuura was formerly home to the Japanese whaling industry and today hosts the second largest tuna market in Japan, we ate well.
